Martin Douglas’ Favorite Albums of 2012

This year was so good for music (and I’m so busy covering it) that I am forced to retire Martin Douglas’ Annual Albums of the Year That He Wasn’t Obligated to Write About Elsewhere, and because there would legitimately be like fifty of them, there will be no Honorable Mentions listed here. This list was so excruciating to make, because 2012— in spite of being kind of a crappy year for me personally— was my favorite year for music in almost a decade. And honestly? Only the first three albums here are “ranked,” the order of the majority of this list is almost completely arbitrary.

  3. Roc Marciano - Reloaded
  4. Action Bronson / The Alchemist - Rare Chandeliers
  5. Deep Time - Deep Time

  7. Dunes - Noctiluca
  8. Ty Segall - Twins
  9. Action Bronson / Party Supplies - Blue Chips

  11. Sic Alps - Sic Alps
  12. DIIV - Oshin
